Multigrain Waffles

I am a salty breakfast food person. I pretty much stick to healthy cereals, and if I am eating a big breakfast I eat eggs and toast. Waffles, Pancakes, and French Toast are too sugary in the morning and I like them more as a dessert. If I do make waffles, this is my go too recipe. It's a healthier waffle recipe, and one of the lighter feeling multigrain waffle recipes I've found. I feel much better about eating it than regular waffle recipes, and it's still really delicious.

INGREDIENTS
(Healthier Option)

2 eggs, beaten
1 3/4 cups skim milk
1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
1/4 cup canola oil (applesauce)
1 Tsp Vanilla Extract
1 cup whole wheat pastry flour
1/2 cup flaxseed meal
1/4 cup wheat germ
1/4 cup oats
1/4 cup all-purpose flour (whole wheat)
4 tsp baking powder
1 TBL sugar (splenda+1 tsp brown sugar)
1/4 teaspoon salt

DIRECTIONS
In large bowl whisk together eggs, milk, applesauce, oil, vanilla. Beat in whole wheat pastry flour, flaxseed meal, wheat germ, flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt until smooth.

Cook in waffle iron, eat and enjoy!

Add Strawberry's and Banana's to the top to make extra delicious!

Whole Wheat Waffles

This is a great mild whole wheat waffle, where you can make a healthier choice, but don't have to completely change the taste. I have another recipe I usually use that is a multi-grain waffle. This recipe is great if you don't usually like wheat as much. I love wheat so I enjoy a nice hardy waffle, but I use this recipe when I'm making waffles for other people.

Ingredients:
3/4 cup all purpose flour
3/4 whole wheat flour
2 tablespoon wheat bran
1tablespoon baking powder
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups 1% milk
2 large eggs
2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
2 tablespoons wildflower or orange blossom honey (or regular)

Mix dry ingredients and wet ingredients separately. Add wet to dry slowly stirring. Don't over mix.

Use with Strawberry and Honey Sauce

Strawberry and Honey Sauce

This is a delicious way to spice up an ordinary waffle. Seriously way good.

In small sauce pan over low heat warm 1/2 cup honey stirring until thinned but not hot, about 1 minute.
Remove from heat.
Add 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
1 cup diced fresh strawberry's
Stir until blended.
Cover and let stand at room temperature until served

Chocolate Waffles

So this might be the easiest desert ever... it is yummy too.

Ingredients:
Chocolate Cake Mix (or any flavor of cake)
Ingredients to make the cake (oil, eggs, water etc.)

Mix up the cake as if you were going to bake it but instead heat it in your preheated waffle maker. Top it with your favorite ice cream.

Try spice cake and cinnamon ice cream, or white cake with vanilla ice cream and fresh strawberries. You really can't go wrong. This is the dessert I use if someone just drops by and I need to make something fast.

Yummy!
